Overload Equations
JR3 sensors are designed to withstand their mechanical full scales (mFS) applied to all axes simultaneously. As a result, single axis overload capabilities are often quite high -- in many cases 5 to 10 times the mFS. This inherent overload capability allows for both unexpected overloads and for normal operation up to and beyond mFS, even in the presence of significant preloads.

Fully defining the overload capabilities of a 6dof force-torque sensor is not a simple task. Since our sensors are




intended to support combined forces and torques in all directions simultaneously there are infinite combinations of possible loading environments to examine. To allow proper sizing of a sensor for a given application we've developed model-specific sets of 2 or 3 overload equations (depending on internal structure) which allow any expected load case to be inserted and evaluated for safety.
